No Wastes — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

No Wastes helps you remember food and other products before they expire. This policy says what the app and its service keep about you, why, and how to remove it.

Who we are. No Wastes is published by Enrique Melgarejo. Contact: nowastesapp@gmail.com.

What we keep

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and the app contains no advertising or third-party analytics. The camera is used only while you scan a barcode; the picture stays on your phone and only the number is sent.

Barcode lookups

When you scan a barcode, we look up its product name in Open Food Facts, a public food database. We send it the barcode only, never who you are. We keep a shared list of barcodes and names that is not linked to any account.

Where it is kept

On servers in Sydney, Australia: the database and sign-in on Neon, the service on Vercel. Request logs keep the time, the address requested, and the result, never your email or your products.

The app also keeps a copy of your last product list on your phone, so it shows without a connection. It is removed when you sign out.

How long

Until you delete your account. A product you delete is kept, marked as deleted, for our counts of how the app is used, and removed with your account.

Deleting your account

In the app: Account → Delete my account. This removes your account, your products, your settings, and your reminder history on every device. It cannot be undone.

Sharing

We do not sell or share your data. The companies that host the service (Neon, Vercel) process it on our behalf only.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date above and say what changed in the app's release notes.
